Celebrate the Release of A Noble Groom! And Giveaways!

Dear readers, I'm excited to announce that my fourth book, A Noble Groom has officially released!

In celebration I'm pulling out the party hats, balloons, and confetti! Coffee and chocolate, anyone? *grin*

It's always a wonderful milestone to finally set a book free into the world and watch it make its way into reader hands. Of course I always cringe just a little when I click on a review, wondering what I'll find. But overall so far, the reviews have been pretty positive! In fact, many readers have said they think it's my best book yet.

Here are just a few things people have said:

"This story paints such a vivid picture of 1880s Michigan and the people who lived there. It is rich with detail so that you not only see the words on the page, but your mind paints a picture of the scene while you read." ~Sherri Stone

"A Noble Groom had everything I want in a book: romance, suspense, action, and a deepness that makes you question your own thoughts." ~Laura Pol

"This was a page turner. I read the whole book in 1 day! I could not put it down. There was something new around every corner. The one thing I really liked about this book is it was not predictable." ~Lynne Young

I just wanted to take the opportunity to tell everyone how much I appreciate all the kind words about the book. AND to thank everyone who has written a review or shared about the book in some format or another! I'm incredibly grateful!

A special thanks to all those who participated in the Book Banter last evening (Wed. 4/3). Book Banter is a Facebook chat party that my publisher hosts on their Facebook Page for their various authors (usually a couple times a month). The author makes a live appearance (like I did last night!). We chat with readers, answer questions, and give away books!

And the winners of last night's Book Banter giveaways of A Noble Groom are . . .  Drum roll please!

Congratulations! Please email Noelle Buss (noelle.buss@bethanyhouse.com), publicist at Bethany House Publishers, with your mailing address so that she can send you a copy of A Noble Groom. (Valid only for US and Canadian addresses.)

Don't worry! For those who didn't win a copy of my new release, keep reading!

In honor of release week, I'm giving away two autographed copies of A Noble Groom here on my blog. All you need to do to enter the giveaway is leave a comment with this post (and also please leave your email so that I can contact you if you win). Deadline for entering is next Monday night at 10:00 pm ET (April 8, 2013). (US & Canadian addresses only)

And for other news, I'm officially on spring break this week. Yes, homeschoolers do take spring break too. But unlike other moms who use spring break to spend time with their kids, I use the week to take a break from my kids. Since we're together every day, day-in day-out, it's kinda nice to have a week where we don't have to be together all the time!

So the kids are hanging out with friends, having sleepovers, finally running around outside in the slightly warmer weather, and all that good stuff.

And me? You'll never guess what I'm doing this week for my break.

I'm writing! Surprise, surprise, right? I seriously love having the extra time to write during breaks. Since writing is something I absolutely love to do (even more than reading!), it's always a delight when I get a little more time to spend at it.

Here's what my back yard looks like. Still dead and gray. Even though it's spring here in Michigan, it won't look like it until at least the beginning of May. Anyone want to send some flowers or color my way? *wink*

Have you taken a spring break this spring? If so, what did you spend your break doing? And if not, have you had spring weather yet in your area of the country?

Thanks for stopping by to help celebrate my book's release! Happy reading!

  2. ~ I am from all the way up in Nova Scotia Canada. We have already had our Spring Break lovingly referred to as March Break. My 3 oldest went to Bridgewater for Teen Thunder, a week long event geared toward teens, with Preachers and activities for them. So I was a home with a hubby recovering form surgery and my two youngest daughters, ( they are all girls ) We had a fun time going to see insects and bugs at the mall (yuck) and just playing games and enjoying time with the two who don't always get alot of Mommy and Daddy time :) Thanks for taking the time after the book talk to answer the rest of the questions. 1. Hi Michelle,

Your early break sounds like fun! (Except the bug part!) ;-) It probably was still too cold then to enjoy being outside. I'm hoping it warms up enough here in MI today that I can take a walk outside and not freeze my ears off in the process! :-)

    2. We have a wind chill of 0 today, but us hardy Maritimers will most likely be out playing. At least the girls will be, I will be sitting in the house with a cup of tea, reading a good book and watching birds at my feeder :)

Oh my, waist-high snowbanks? Eeek! You must live in the mountains or in the far north! Our snow here is mostly gone, except the big dirty piles in parking lots that were mountain high but are now finally shrinking. Can't wait for the green and flowers though!

  15. Hi, Jody!

Congratulations on your new book release! Another great feeling of accomplishment for you.:-) As for Spring Break...yes, we homeschoolers take one too, but unfortunately this year, our Spring Break time was spent traveling up north for two funerals in our family. With that, plus our recent move, we just kept plugging along with schoolwork! Here in Texas, we've had some days in the upper 70's already, but nights can still get down to the 40's. The redbuds and dogwoods are blooming, as are the pear trees, and all kinds of flowers can be seen--tulips, daffodils, cactus:-), irises. In Texas winter, you can always see petunias blooming too!

Much as we love it here, we miss Michigan and our friends! Maybe reading your new book will fill my Michigan homesickness a little bit!:-)

  54. Congratulations, Jody! I LOVE A Noble Groom! I'll be sharing my book review on my blog next week. The reason this one is at the top of the list as my favorite is because the love story is so rich and vibrant. I can feel Carl and Annalisa's love for one another. I'm cheering for them, even though things look pretty shaky right now...I'm going to sneak away and finish it this afternoon. :)

And you have a lot less snow than we do in central Minnesota. The grass is finally peeking out in patches in our backyard. No spring break here! We had to use the spring break as make up days for our kids because we had so many snow days this winter. Happy Spring!

  55. No spring break for us as my littles are 3yo, 2yo and 5 months. There is still way too much snow in the backyard. We have a bad case of cabin fever. Temp today is about 21F. I'm originally from upstate NY now residing in SE Manitoba, Canada.

Congratulations on the release! Look forward to reading it.

  56. I just finished The Doctor's Lady, it was exciting to see in the author's notes the story is based on Narcissa Whitman's journals. I am fascinated with that time in history, when homeschooling my son I took him to Fort Walla Walla and the Whitman Mission nearby, it's very moving.

  58. Jody, the party was so much fun last night! Thanks for answering a couple of my questions. It's always interesting to get published authors' perspectives on the process of becoming (and staying) published. I'm working on the first read-though/edit of my first completed manuscript, so I'm loving all the advice I'm gleaning from various authors.

Thanks for this second opportunity to win a book. I'm looking forward to reading A Noble Groom. It's got an intriguing storyline that I'm sure I'll love.

As for spring break, my family already had ours a couple weeks ago. We went to Louisiana for a few days (we live next door in Texas). We stayed at this spacious cabin that had this neat open-concept living/dining/kitchen space that has inspired me in my own house plans for later on down the road. I love everything interior design and decorating.

God bless you muchly, Jody, as you journey with Him. And may He bless you with plenty of beautiful WORDS this week!

Haven't I signed up for your newsletter? Thought I had. It is usually HOT by now here in the Houston area.. But, GOD has given us a little more Winter and Spring than we usually have. So have enjoyed not having to have the A/C on every day as usual by now. Today was just a bit cool tho for a cold front came in. Won't last long tho. Yes, flowers are blooming everywhere. And, grass stays green all year.

Oh, and no spring break for me. Work, work, work.

  85. I have to give up my spring break this year to help a relative, but in the past I used spring vacations to write, too. It's nice to be able to write without feeling guilty about all the other work I feel like I should be doing. And congratulations on Noble Groom! That's awesome that it's been released and that the views have been positive.

  86. Congratulations on its release, Jody! I'm SO looking forward to reading it, and hoping my copy will arrive soon so I can help get the word out about how good it is. (I have no doubt that it's at least as good as your others!) :)

Spring is well underway here on Canada's west coast -- grass is greening, cherry tree and magnolia blossoms turning up everywhere. We had one exceptionally warm week, but now it's raining again. When our children were young we often went 'cold weather camping' during their spring break, taking the RV out for its first trip of the year. That almost always required boots and warm jackets, but it was exhilarating to get outdoors.

  89. Congrats on the new release, Jody. I've heard really wonderful things about it from a good friend (who loved it so much she refused to lend me a copy). Sigh. . . Anyway, I'm hoping to read it soon. Always love a story set in Michigan. :-)
