As I was reading it I kept thinking this would be a fun movie. I did a little googling after I finished the book and there was talk of it becoming a movie a few years ago but I don't know if progress has been made. leptin dietZackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09875668972227675257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8539581256374625880.post-29082523300918050432014-09-24T07:53:10.903-04:002014-09-24T07:53:10.903-04:00His little girl discovered them in the underground...His little girl discovered them in the underground room as she ready for a shift. Having grown up bilingual German-English I know my voice is sometimes unique aka messed up because of early influences, but it never occurred to me that I could simply switch part of sentences this way! I will re-read now and check if every action is followed by a reaction and not the other way around! Living in Austria I never found a beta who can or wants to read in English which is really making the polishing tough... so thank you for these insights!
Cheers from Vienna!
http://www.writersburrow.blogspot.co.at/
MsButtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14433959011317026075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8539581256374625880.post-74945183208816302062013-08-27T12:18:52.454-04:002013-08-27T12:18:52.454-04:00The great thing about structure is that it works i...The great thing about structure is that it works in reverse too. There is no *right* way to write. Some of us plot and outline in detail prior to the first draft. Some of us only know the major plot points going in. And some of us just write the darn thing, and *then* go back and make the necessary adjustments to ensure it's properly structured. It's the end product that's important. How we get there is up to each of us as individuals.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13832782604769370695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8539581256374625880.post-49810553313391304282013-08-20T09:06:23.747-04:002013-08-20T09:06:23.747-04:00I understand plotting to a certain point. You want...I understand plotting to a certain point. You want to have a cohesive story that works together and not spend months and months rewriting because you don't know where you want your story to go. However, I prefer to leave parts of my plotting way more loose and fluid than what's described in some of these passages.

I suppose it boils down to this, plotting gives me a general idea of my characters actions, but not their reactions. It's impossible for me to predict the majority of those until I'm inside the characters head writing the reaction.

If plotting reactions works for some people, then great. It would be way to stiffling to me. If I start a story with complex characters and a big, story worthy problem with a solid solution in mind for the end, that seems the best method for me. It's neither plotting nor pantsering. It's having a plot without the details. I like to leave those details up to my characters.

But every writer is different. The last time I tried reading a craft book I gave up. Some of the ideas and exercises were just to ridiculously arbitrary for me. But then, I'm sure there's readers who appreciate those exercises. I'm just not one of them. :-)Naomi Rawlingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02431203734855694561noreply@blogger.com
